Even though there are a bunch of clouds in the sky, the distant view of Assomada, the surrounding Ribeiras and even to the sea in Calheta is breathtaking and indescribable.
The tour takes about six hours. On your walk you pass through open forest (Pines, Cypresses, Eucalyptus) and across terraced fields on remote paths. High Agaves hem now and then your way over the ridge and hold out amazing views into the surrounding valleys to the sea. Whoever wants to make the descent easier can shorten the last hour by taking an Aluguer to the coastal path and going back to Calheta |
